Diversity in tech: what’s actually being done to make the community more inclusive? We all agree that education, careers, and opportunities in technology should not be limited to any one demographic or sector. At the same time, there are underrepresented groups who are struggling to break into the field. How do we bridge the gap? In this panel we will try to focus on what we can directly do every day in our offices, in our tech communities and in everyday life. to make the panel more interesting it might be useful to know a little more about our beliefs with a test.

After marketing various major artists, managing a recording studio, and co-founding a production company, a career change landed him in the world of Design. Qa'id worked as an in-house and freelance designer for almost 10 years before making another shift: moving to Amsterdam in 2013. As a UX Designer in Amsterdam, he has worked with both large, global corporates and small, bootstrapped startups. Using an empathetic design approach, he takes on challenges of class, locale, and context.

Lian always wanted to save the world. After a failed attempt at becoming a lawyer, she decided to do something with computers instead. Working as a Fullstack Software Engineer, she got into attending tech events and giving talks on Machine Learning with JavaScript all around the world. She fell in love with the tech community, which led to her co-organising the community conference ServerlessDays Amsterdam. Currently, Lian lives in Amsterdam and works as Cloud Native Consultant at Container Solutions, a consultancy focused on programmable infrastructure.
