The Educational area of Codemotion Amsterdam is provided by Codemotion kids!, the special EdTech project of Codemotion dedicated to kids and youngsters, and sponsored by pi-top and Ligra.

The Codemotion EdTech project, by Codemotion kids!, brings to Amsterdam 2019 one of its most appreciated attractions by the Maker Faire Europe Edition in which this activity was protagonist: Mission to Mars 2.0.

Prove yourself with Scratch, a visual programming language, used in EdTech to teach the coding to the youngest! Codemotion kids! – the education project of Codemotion – will challenge you to go out of your comfort zone by testing your skills and mindset with a visual, education program.

The Mission to Mars 2.0 is part of the larger Education area that will be set up in the Exhibition area of Codmeotion Amsterdam 2019.

with his talk “Concerning Modules” –  Our systems are bloated, buggy, unmaintainable, and all too often too slow. It is well understood that the solution is modularity, but modularity itself is not well understood. What is modularity? How can we recognize it? How can a better understanding of modularity help us to make better programs? The answers to these questions can be found in The Lost Wisdom of the Seventies.

with his talk “Artificial intelligence and human identity” –  The trend is crystal clear: we have entered an era in which computersystems have become self-learning. And systems of this kind are acquiring more and more skills that we have so far regarded as purely human. Intelligent systems that can hear, see, read and speak. But they can also recognise people’s emotions; ever better and more refined. These developments have led to doubt about who we are and how we should relate to new technology. What skills are we willing to lose and outsource to new technology? How do we guard our human identity in an ever faster changing digital world?

We want your talents, creativity, and insights to help us make Codemotion Amsterdam the greatest event it can possibly be. By volunteering, you can be at the very centre of this exciting event attending the tech talks delivered by the best speakers from all around the world! Sounds cool, doesn’t it?

Room assistants needed

The selected room assistants will work at Kromhouthal on April 2-3 (08:00 – 18:00).

Responsibilities:

• monitoring the overall situation
• managing stage and speakers
• running the Q&A session after every talk
• reporting to the supervisors if something goes wrong

Please note that each room assistant will be assigned to one of the rooms and will not be able to follow the talks that will take place in the other ones.

Emilia Ciardi – IGT: She is a software engineer with a focus on mobile gaming technologies and a long time experience leading cross functional teams

Alessandro Mazzi – AM Legal: He is a creative legal expert with a professional passion for freedom projects, disruptive technologies, future-proof businesses and, regulatory challenges.

Stefanie Grewenig – ThoughtWorks: She’s working as a consultant and software developer with ThoughtWorks Germany.

Michel Schudel – Craftsmen: Michel Schudel has been a passionate software developer since 1998, building various solutions for banks, insurance companies and telecom providers.

Martin Woolley – Bluetooth SIG: He works for the Bluetooth SIG, the technical standards body for Bluetooth. He’s an industry veteran.

Melanie Rieback – Radically Open Security : Melanie was named 2010 ICT Professional of the Year (Finalist) by WomeninIT

Mauricio Palma – SinnerSchrader: self-educated UI Developer. He works as a proxy between the design and engineering teams

Sascha Wolter – Cognigy.AI: He is a professional developer and he also works as a consultant, trainer, software-architect and author.

Rafaëla Breed – Luminis Amsterdam: software engineer at Luminis in Amsterdam, she is very involved in the development of backend systems in Java with Spring.

Katie Koschland – Financial Times: Junior Engineer at the Financial Times, she is currently working in the Internal Products team building tools for employees of the company.
